Friends for Life Recording Secretary Joanne Lewis, a native of Cupertino, CA, was invited to fill the volunteer position by a friend.
“It sounded like a wonderful group to support,” says Joanne, who accepted her friend’s invitation in 2020.
She likes the mission of the nonprofit, supporting Life’s Garden residents.
“The FFL mission is to support the residents and provide them with activities. I enjoy being able to provide the residents with fun experiences,” says Joanne, whose first onsite volunteer experience was the ice cream social at Life’s Garden on August 7, 2021.
Joanne is a good fit for her position, which includes outreach to residents each year as part of the annual membership drive, writing to thank members for joining and supporting FFL.
“I am organized and detail oriented,” says Joanne. “I also work full time in Human Resources at an IT company, and I am able to do a majority of my role in the evenings.”
Being organized and budgeting her time allows Joanne to have a balanced life that includes working, volunteering and spending time outdoors— hiking throughout the Bay Area.
