Friends for Life treasurer Ralph Babcock counts himself lucky. He has the time and interest to oversee the financial contributions that enable FFL to organize social events for the senior residents of Life’s Garden residence in Sunnyvale.
“I like to help and finance is an area of interest,” says Ralph, who became treasurer in 2021.
He also volunteers along similar lines at his church, Sunnyvale Presbyterian Church, which launched Life’s Garden in 1976.
Ralph may be interested in finance, but it is his fellow volunteers and the people he helps that make being treasurer a rewarding way to volunteer.
“I am working with very nice people,” says Ralph, who retired after 43 years as a Lockheed Martin engineer. He and his wife have lived in Sunnyvale for more than 40 years.
A greater Detroit (Michigan) area native, Ralph has a B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan and a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from Santa Clara University.
“We have six wonderful, beautiful grandchildren—aren’t they always?” says Ralph.
“They love us.”
